Are you finding motherhood more challenging that you expected? Perhaps you wished you were enjoying being a Mum more and thought it would feel easier or more “natural” but instead often feel anxious, stressed, angry or low in mood and stuck in survival mode.
Many women struggle in the transition to motherhood but think that they are alone in feeling this way. The reality of motherhood encompasses a wide range of challenges and complex emotions that can feel surprising and confusing. Anxiety, guilt, unexpected rage, depression, loss of identity and missing your old life are often part of postpartum and motherhood but can feel difficult to talk about, especially when everyone keeps on telling you to enjoy every minute.
As many as 1 in 5 women will struggle with maternal mental health issues and seeking support is vital for your emotional wellbeing. Whether you are secretly struggling with anxiety since having a baby, experiencing rage like you have never felt before since becoming a Mum or just feeling overwhelmed like you are constantly stuck in survival mode, maternal therapy can help. Some women come to therapy during postpartum or whilst they are still on maternity leave, whilst others find they need more support as their children are a little older and they are finding it hard to manage the emotional demands of toddlerhood and beyond.
In therapy, you will be able to work on reducing stress and anxiety, understand maternal rage, stop being consumed by guilt and make sense of your feelings surrounding motherhood so that you can experience motherhood the way you want to.
All therapy sessions are 50 minutes and are charged at £125

I also offer a Perinatal Power Session to help you to make sense of your emotional experience in Motherhood and put together a coping skills plan to equip you moving forward. This can be a helpful introduction to therapy if you are not sure if you are ready to commit to ongoing sessions.
